Under federal law, if you don't have health insurance or are not using a policy to pay for services, your health care provider must give you an estimate of your bill for services before they're provided. This document is called a Good Faith Estimate. 

Under the No Surprises Act you have the right to:

• Receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of services upon request or when scheduling services. 
• Receive a Good Faith Estimate in a way that is accessible to you. 
• Have your provider explain the estimate to you upon request.
• Dispute a bill for services that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate.
